motivation words

1. Your motivation to do something is the reason why you want to do it. If you have motivation, you do something because you want to do it — and not because you have to do it. The lazy man does not have the motivation to do what must be done. The lazy learner needs a bit of motivation to help him get through the pain of learning. The need to communicate in English can be a good motivation for learning English pronunciation. Her teacher told her that she had made much progress, and this increased her motivation to keep on learning. My interest in medicine was my biggest motivation to study chemistry. Some people do not have motivation to change the way they live.

Engaging Grammar Games for Kids

Elementary school children are often enthusiastic about school and learning. Keep them engaged in learning by directing them to the following interactive websites:
  • Noun Dunk: This fun basketball game for kids has them choose whether the word on the basketball is a common noun, proper noun, or not a noun at all. Sink the basket with the correct choice to gain points.
  • Monkey Business: Have the sound turned on for this cute interactive game that has children building bridges to let a monkey cross over treacherous waters. The goal of this game teaches proper sentence structure. If you put together the sentence wrong twice, the game will give the correct answer.
  • Proofreading Makes Perfect: Older students can learn how to proofread by correcting sentences in this game. Click on "Check Answer" to get an immediate response on whether or not you are correct. A hint is given for each problem, helping students correctly identify what needs to be changed.
  • Grammar Gorillas: Choose from a beginner or advanced level and rack up bananas as parts of speech are properly identified. Examples of the different parts of a sentence are at the bottom of the page once the game has begun.
  • 2Bee or Nottoobee: Select one of two bumblebee characters and skill level in this game that helps you choose the right verb within the sentence. Level 1 deals with the present and Level 2 deals with the past tense.
  • Paint by Idioms: Pick a character to paint, skill level, and the way you want the idiom problems presented. As you choose the correct answer, the painter will take care of the character you chose to paint. If you choose the wrong answer, an explanation of the correct one is given so that concepts are understood.
